Folk art and tears

When I saw this dress, I was in retail heaven! I was on a random shopping trip with my friend, Mel. We were shopping for HER, not me! I think I even mentioned to her, “Don’t let me buy anything!” But as I turned around a corner and saw this dress I was taken aback. The colors, the embroidery, the fit! And somehow I managed to squeeze into a size 2 (winning!), I just had to have it. We were at TJ Maxx, because I don’t think I mentioned that. And I thought to myself, where have I seen this dress before? I looked at the original tags on the dress and it was from Anthropologie. I went home, did a little more research and guess what? The dress I just bought for $30, was originally from Anthropolgie for $178!!! Well, I have had the dress for a while and was waiting for just the perfect occasion to wear it and the months flew by and finally it was the day of my friends taking me out for my birthday. Really, this dress saved me. It was possibly the worst day of my life that day and any joy that I could shed upon myself was welcome. And although the day still sucked and I had cried all day, I loved slipping into this dress. Oh btw, if you ever cry your eyes out and don’t want the puffy eye look, pop two advil gel pills every three hours and put ice packs on your eyes. It sounds funny now, but if my eyes were all puffy, I would have just stayed home. Anyway, I love, love, love this dress!

Vacations are my favorite

But we can’t always go on one, right? But that doesn’t mean you have to dress all depressed! Wear a fun, tropical dress any day and you’ll just feel like life is a breeze. Well, maybe not, but you’ll be super cute. As if this dress needed another reason to be perfect, it also has pockets!

Ikat Maxi dress

Ok, my friend Lissette and I were running around town this day and it was a HOT ONE. Let me tell ya! Everywhere that we went I kept getting comments from other womenย on how much they loved my dress and how COMFORTABLE it looked. Well, it was comfortable! And it was a birthday gift from my dad ๐Ÿ™‚ Again, it is not the most figure flattering, but it was soooo comfy! And isn’t that all that matters? Especially in the Texas heat?

This was a rough week for me…

Although, this was the outfit I wore on my birthday (July 6th) for lunch with my dad, it was still a rough day. Birthdays are supposed to be happy, but it wouldn’t be life if there weren’t rough patches. But, as always, I still have so much to be thankful for. That’s why I jammed Bob Marley all day. Who can be sad when you’re listening to Bob Marley?

Pinic Ready!

This outfit reminds me of a picnic! Can you believe this entire outfit was just under $40 (not including the purse or bracelet, sorry). I got the Old Navy shirt for just $6 on clearance, the jean capris are from Marshalls $12, the necklace from Kohls was $4, and the Nine West sandals are from Ross for $18. BTW, the Nine West sandals were more than I wanted to pay for shoes at Ross, but the name brand and quality twisted my arm. Now I have no regrets about buying them! I wear them all the time. This was my July 4th Eve outfit.
