A shirt dress is the ultimate summer comfort item. You may have seen them in stores and you may think they look too plain, too simple or just simply pass them by, because it’s not something you could see yourself in. Well, do you wear t-shirts? If the answer is yes, then you can totally wear a t-shirt dress! I bought this one from Forever 21 for less than $13. I also own a couple from Target and Wal-Mart. I’ve seen them in a broad range of sizes from XS to Plus sizes. I paired this shirt dress with a bright necklace and a straw clutch and a cute parrot cocktail ring.

white with a splash of pink
As you know, I’m a huge fan of all white with splashes of color. This outfit is so easy, literally anyone can do it. It’s just a white tank, white jeans, and any colored scarf. I also went matchy-matchy and paired it with a tote that matches the scarf. These tortoise earrings were on sale at Charming Charlie for under $5.
Pretty and Prickley
This is another tank from Macy’s. And if you’re from Texas, you’ve gotta love cactus! My earrings are also little cactuses.
a black tank top doesnt have to be boring
A black tank top doesn’t have to be boring. Pair it with a fun tote. It’s a plus if it has a pineapple on it! All the jewelry is from a Jamaica vacation.
ice cream but with no calories!
I was at Target a few weeks ago and ran across this top. I had really been looking for a shirt with a donut or an ice cream cone, or some sort of sweet treat for a couple months. So it was meant to be! I paired it here with white jean capris, because I didn’t have a statement colored skirt at the time. I am now the proud owner of a bright hot pink skirt that I’m ready to pair it with this shirt.
Flamingos are a symbol of summer!
This has to be one of my favorite outfits for summer. I ordered this tank from Macy’s for under $12, added a turquoise multi-strand beaded necklace and some skinny jeans…and voilà ! So simple.
a poncho or a shawl? whatever you call it, call it comfortable
Can’t you imagine yourself wearing this while traveling on a plane? It keeps you cozy when it’s too cold and easy to take off if it gets stuffy. This one is from the Gap from many years ago, but I see them from time to time in stores. If you see one, snag it! It’s just as versatile as a light sweater.
Denim Shirt
A long sleeve denim shirt is something that everyone should have as a staple in their closet. And don’t get rid of it! Denim shirts and jackets get better with time. I received this denim shirt as a Christmas gift a couple years ago and I wear it all the time, year round. I pair it with white jeans, a shade of darker denim jeans, and black and white striped shorts. Here I paired it with a pair of sweat pant material shorts that have a crochet hem detail. Also, if you’re every nearby a Kohl’s Dept Store, be sure to check out their jewelry section. I find really cute pieces there on the super cheap! This necklace was under $4. Also, become a member of their shopping rewards (free) and they’ll send you coupons almost weekly for 15-30% off.
One color that is a must for summer is hot pink!
I got this super light weight tank from Old Navy for $7 and it’s nothing special, but the color is literally made for summer and it’s a linen blend. Win-win. Also, hot pink is one of those great colors that you can contrast lots of other fun, summer colors. See my bracelets. Talk about a summer arm party!
It’s the Sealife for Me
Again, anything tropical, loose and comfortable is a winner in my book. I have to admit that this dress on the hanger wasn’t much to look at, but on, it’s so flattering. Also, if you’re digging the detail bras that I’m wearing, they are from Forever 21 and they are under $5. They don’t have the best support, but if I can wear them, most of you can, too! 😉 Plus, the little detail that they add is so fun!
