I’m pretty sure I’ve mentioned before that when I worked for my dad, I could wear whatever I wanted. Literally, anything. Shorts, leggings, jeans, sweatpants, workout clothes, or a dress. So when I got hired as a teacher I was a little worried I wouldn’t find clothes I liked. But I found the cutest (and most comfortable) teal ankle pants and I’m definitely NOT hating it! I’m excited to see what’s in store for my new wardrobe. And again, I’m excited about the first day of school so I can show y’all my cat-themed outfit!
Animal Print
I was a little reluctant to ever wear this dress, because of the print. As I’ve gotten older, I’m a little bit more conservative. I didn’t want to wear a dress that says, ‘look at me!’ Contrary to popular belief, I actually hate being the center of attention. I’m pretty shy, actually. Oh yeah, and I get embarrassed super easily. But anyway, back to the dress. I can’t believe I waited so long to wear it! The fabric was super slinky and silky and it felt amazing! I also liked the turquoise necklace color contrast. By the way, my jeweled sandals are from JCPenney and were under $11!
AdviceÂ
seriously, just last night I read an article about things you should never do before an interview. Considering the fact that I’m already technically ‘hired,’ I didn’t put much thought into it. But I did have to meet today with my future employer and two of the five bullet points I read in that article were on point! Oh my gosh! For one, it said leave in a reasonable amount of time because you never know what can happen…a road detour, heavy traffic, or you spill coffee on yourself!!! Yes, I spilled my drink all over myself. Boo. But luckily I wasn’t far from home and just turned back around and changed. Secondly, the article said do not change things up from your normal daily regimen. So don’t go cut your hair or change your makeup regimen too much for an interview. Yes, I used a new foundation sample I received and the color was all wrong. And to top it off, I took an ID badge picture today ðŸ˜. So lesson learned!
Run Around
Blessed
I feel like people throw around the word blessed a lot. I’m not judging. I can’t judge, because I’m no better than most people in my righteousness. But sometimes I truly, truly feel like heaven shines down on me. I know God, for some reason, has always watched over me. But again, today heaven shined down. I got a teaching job and I truly feel blessed. Many thanks to my friends that have supported and prayed for me.

Never Underestimate a Cotton Dress in a Bright Color
So, I’ve probably mentioned before that I never, ever, ever pass up the clothing section of any store. The local grocery store, Target or Walmart. Because you can sometimes find simple, inexpensive items. In a world where everyone is so quick to show off their expensive labels, I like to balance. This dress is from Walmart. It was $8. To spice it up I paired a Mexican embroidered belt and purse that I got while on (separate) vacations.
Next time you’re at the store, check out the clothing section for cute, simple dresses. Try to resist patterns and stripes, you’ll find solid pieces can stretch your closet further and patterns of inexpensive clothing lines can show their worth.

T-shirt dresses are so easy, they’re genius. Just pair them with a necklace and BAM. Plus, they’re comfortable and anybody type can wear them.
I knew all day that my grandma was coming into town, but I lollygaged around all day. And then I decided to sweep and mop and in the middle of that my mom texts to say, ‘Your grandma just arrived. Let’s go to dinner.’
Yikes, I didn’t even have anything picked out to wear, but this dress saved the day!
